Crime Prevention Training Program

The Credit Union is committed to providing employees with training to ensure personal security during a robbery, the prevention of financial loss through a scam, and how to prevent identity theft. Annual trainings are held for employees to review proper security measures in case of a robbery situation. Local police personnel are invited to conduct the training sessions to ensure employees are up to date with current procedures and potential criminal tactics. Security training is supplemented with online classes through credit union affiliates.

Proper check handling and cash verification is taught during teller training. Also, a loss prevention measure has been implemented to protect our members and the Credit Union from fraudulent checks. Our Credit Union uses Decision Check Scanners to detect if a check has a valid MICR number or has been written on a closed account. Employees are instructed on the features of a check to be aware of and how to detect counterfeit bills. Also, employees are kept up to date on current check scams and frauds. The Credit Union is, also, a member of the SOFIA , and receives frequent updates on scams other financial institutions have prevented or suffered a loss from. This information positions the Credit Union to better protect our membership.
